The Copernicum, The Triple Helix’s newest pursuit of interdisciplinary education, has been established at two high schools in the United States. During the last few months, Sonia Sarkar and Ali Habib have been working hard to establish a high-school edition of The Triple Helix, named The Copernicum. Their hard work has paid off as Sonia and Ali have successfully established two high-school chapters: The Horace Mann School and Prospect High School in Illinois.
The Horace Mann School chapter, run by Katherine Cagen, has been successful in recruiting twelve students that are in the process of creating articles. Ali Habib continues to recruit at Prospect High School and has received backing from three corporate sponsors so far. Both schools are aiming to publish their articles by the end of the current semester.
This high-school division is yet another step in educating The Triple Helix audience about interdisciplinary education, which is as important at the high-school level as it is at the undergraduate or graduate levels. It is also an opportunity for younger students to get valuable experience in various fields including, management, writing and editing, design, fundraising, and much more.
The Copernicum is a subsidiary of The Triple Helix, Inc. More information will be available online as the construction of the website is completed at www.thecopernicum.thetriplehelix.org. If you are interested in contributing to The Triple Helix or Copernicum, contact us at hr@thetriplehelix.org.
