The Triple Helix, Inc. was officially founded in October 2004 as the first and only national undergraduate print journal of its kind. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization and publication is completely student-run and, what began as a regular local journal, has quickly expanded to incorporate 18 chapters on four continents and become the largest undergraduate non-profit organization unparalleled in the world.
The name “The Triple Helix” is a reference to the molecular structure of the protein collagen. Collagen is a connective tissue that plays an integral part in maintaining the structural integrity of individual organs and between organ systems. This interconnecting characteristic of collagen is analogous to the interdisciplinary focus of our organization, as we work to bridge scientific development with its greater role in science policy and society.
More than ever now, the world is moving toward a globalized mindset that integrates ideas stemming from various cultural and intellectual backgrounds. In its young history, the Triple Helix, Inc., has inspired thousands of students around the world to look beyond the intellectual appeal of science and make critical connections between science and its relevance to other disciplines that shape our society. Through a dynamic leadership infrastructure, TTH receives a constant flux of new ideas and creates a system that is in pace with the expanding global society. We welcome you to explore the fruits of our passion and become a part of what we all have worked so hard to achieve.
